Carl Pratt, director of Octave Design Services located on site at The Heath are an engineering business that provide mechanical and electrical design services for buildings.
Despite Carl’s busy schedule, he has been a gym regular since moving to the Heath in 2018.
“the gym on site is such an important part of my daily routine when office based. Having three young children makes it difficult to train in the morning or evening, therefore the lunchtime workouts are key to my wellbeing and mental and physical health. The lunchtime classes are awesome and the instructors are great and really knowledgeable, helping to push me to my limit!”
2020 hasn’t gone to plan for any of us. Carl usually focuses on a calendar of running events to stay focused throughout the year and raise money for charity. With this not having been possible, Carl has had to come up with other ideas to try and raise the target of £5,000.00 for his family’s chosen charities, which have come about since his 3 year old son had a heart transplant in 2018.
Carl will now be attempting to keep up his record of running a half marathon every month in 2020.
“I booked Wrexham Village Bakery Half Marathon early January so kickstart the year, this led to running a half marathon late January to prepare. Unfortunately this was cancelled in February due to bad weather. However, I kept up the miles to prepare for Liverpool Half Marathon in March. This one did go ahead and I was delighted to run it in under 1hr40. When the gym was closed late March due to COVID 19, I decided I had to at least keep up the running. This led to the idea that maybe I could look to achieve a half marathon every month this year”.
“Having been back at the gym in August following reopening focusing on general fitness and strength training again, the miles have been reduced this month, so it’s going to be a difficult long run at the weekend!”
