The Heath Running Group was formed in January 2019 to encourage people of all ages & abilities to become more active within their everyday lives – by providing regular organised opportunities to exercise, run & walk with others for FREE.
During the past 18months the group has significantly grown in number from our organising of several Couch 2 5k Courses, with over 200 new runners registering for the courses and completing them, many of whom have continued to run; at their own ability levels, developed their levels further or with other organised Clubs. Many of our members have progressed from the 5km distance to regularly run 8km, 10km & training up for the Half Marathon distance.

We are an inclusive group, aiming to cater for all abilities – through opportunities with us or offering advice to develop further. Our philosophy is a simple one, we go out together and return together as a group, treating everyone with respect & support whilst also encouraging everyone to achieve their best in life.
With the current Covid19 pandemic placing restrictions on everyday lives, we have been working especially hard to continue with our organised weekly runs but to so do both safely and within the ever changing restrictions being placed upon us. That is why when we meet, all participants follow our Covid19 guidance and Social Distancing to ensure compliance of the government’s restrictions.

The Group had planned to organise several other C25K Courses during the past 6months, but Covid19 has caused us to put that on hold for now, especially with how popular our courses have previously been – the last course in January 2020 had over 100 people register to do it. This being said, we will always welcome new runners of any ability to the group and continue to help them with our knowledge and experiences, providing a safe & sociable opportunity to get fit.
We meet every Tuesday & Thursday evening at the main entrance to the Heath Leisure Suite at 6.30pm. So if you are interested or curious and want to see what we are doing come and say hello or join our Facebook page – Heath Running Group.

A special thanks to Mike and the run leaders who give up their own time to coach, inspire and motivate others to exercise.
